I was asked to help work security this year at the Full Throttle Saloon during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. So I put on a yellow vest and took the four to midnight shift. There were a few stressful moments but overall I enjoyed the experience. I even got some tips...not cash...but almost as good. One guy gave me a Magic 8 Ball Hot Wheels car -
He had a whole pocket full of them. Not sure of the significance, if any, but I think it's cool. His wife gave me a mini ghostly skull bracelet -
I will actually wear it...for special occasions only, of course.
Then there was this -
I wasn't sure if it is even legal. It is. I asked Google Gemini for more information and here's part of what came back from my inquiry: "Because these products are completely unregulated, the physical effects can be unpredictable, highly variable, and potentially dangerous." Not exactly a comforting endorsement. I think I'll just keep them on the bookshelf as a curiosity.
The concerts were good. Well, mostly good. The final night featured the Insane Clown Posse. Their big thing was to spray Faygo Soda on their fans and then throw the empy bottles into the crowd. As souvenirs, I guess. Hundreds of people were proudly carrying the crushed empties out with them after the show. I even snagged one for myself -
It was a leftover I picked up in front of the stage after most everyone had filtered out. I did not join the revelers in the festivities during the concert performance.
The Clown show was a bit too much for me, but the fans were really into it -
And they were all ages, including those who were older than what I would consider the group's main demographic. This lady seemed a little out of place -
I couldn't tell if she was having a good time or not, but there she was. Good for her.
I'm writing this the morning after my last night of working, so I'm going to wrap it up here. I'm not a person who takes naps but today I might make an exception. I'm kind of tired.
